Applying Stylesheet in Reports (e.g. Font, Header)

I'm using Reporting Service with Service Pack3 and I want to Apply my own stylesheet in reports. I want to give my own style class to Fonts, Headers etc. Can anyone help me ? Is it possible or not ?SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services has somewhat limited style template
support. Improving support in this area is being looked at for inclusion in
a future release.
Until then you have the following options:
1. You can approximate this behavior by creating the specific report you
want and then placing it in C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft SQL
Server\80\Tools\Report Designer\ProjectItems\ReportProject directory. These
reports "templates" will show up in Report Designer's Add New Item dialog
along with the Report Wizard, Report, and Data Source templates when
you add a new report to a project.
2. For simple wizard-created reports, you can control the style via
modifying the wizard style templates (there's an XML config file for this
documented in the help)
3. If you're wanting to modify the style dynamically after the reports are
created, you could store style information in your database and then query
for that information in your report, setting style properties based on the
query results (e.g. FontFamily
=First(Fields!DetailRowFontFamily.Value,"StyleDataSet"))

Application Settings and data extensions

I have application settings that I set in a configuration class and expose
via properties. My business objects use these settings. I use these
business objects in a data extension for reporting services. I include the
configuration dll and business object dlls with my data extension dll. The
application settings are not being found. How do I get these to work?Hello Bruce,
Based on my research, you need to check whether you have include your
configuration dll in your ReportServer web.config file.
Please try to check you web.config file.

First, I would like to know have you use the strong named assembly?
If so, I will suggest you to put all the assembly to the GAC.
If not strong named assembly, please put all the assembly to the Bin folder
of your extension project.

Application hangs on SqlCeConnection.Dispose()

Hi,

I'm having the problem that my application hangs on SqlCeConnection.Dispose() when I'm closing the app.

public class DatabaseManager : IDisposable
{
private DbConnection connection = null;

// Singleton
private DatabaseManager()
{
this.CreateConnection();
}

~DatabaseManager()
{
this.Dispose();
}

public void Dispose()
{
if (this.connection != null)
{
this.connection.Dispose();
}
}
// ...
}

This only happens when I'm calling Application.Exit(); and Dispose is called through the destructor of the DatabaseManager class. When I'm disposing the connection during normal work the call works as intended. BTW I'm using SQL Server Mobile 3.0.5214.0 on a PPC 2003 AKU2 (Symbol PPT8846 industrial device).

Thanks for support,
Klaus

Your implementation is incorrect. There's some special handling involved if called from finalizer:

// Dispose(bool disposing) executes in two distinct scenarios.
// If disposing equals true, the method has been called directly
// or indirectly by a user's code. Managed and unmanaged resources
// can be disposed.
// If disposing equals false, the method has been called by the
// runtime from inside the finalizer and you should not reference
// other objects. Only unmanaged resources can be disposed.
private void Dispose(bool disposing)

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/cpref/html/frlrfSystemIDisposableClassDisposeTopic.asp

Generally you don't need finalizer in this class as you don’t have any native resources.

App.Config files in a Custom Database Extension Class Library

Good Morning..

We're having a heck of a good time trying to implement our first CDE project in SSRS 2005.

In our SDE class library we have included an App.Config file where we want to store configuration settings..

Trouble is that when we view the configuration settings or connection string settings in debug mode, they're not being read for some reason..

Here's our app.config file:

-

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

<configuration>

<configSections>

</configSections>

<appSettings>

<add key="eventLogName" value="FocusDPEEventLog" />

</appSettings>

<connectionStrings>

<add name="PassConnString" connectionString="Data Source=SOMEDATASOURSE;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=SOMEUSERNAME;Password=SOMEPASSWORD;Unicode=True"

providerName="System.Data.OracleClient" />

</connectionStrings>

</configuration>

-

Here's what our Immediate window Debugger is tellin' us about our configuration settings:

-

ConfigurationManager.AppSettings

{System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}

[System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection]: {System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}

base {System.Collections.Specialized.NameObjectCollectionBase}: {System.Configuration.KeyValueInternalCollection}

AllKeys: {Dimensions:[0]}<-incorrect should be 1

ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings

Count = 1 <-ok, is one, but the wrong 1, see 3 lines down...

base {System.Configuration.ConfigurationElementCollection}: Count = 1

ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[0]

{data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true}<--Should be PassConnString

base {System.Configuration.ConfigurationElement}: {data source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true}

ConnectionString: "data source=.\\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|aspnetdb.mdf;User Instance=true"

Name: "LocalSqlServer"

ProviderName: "System.Data.SqlClient"

Now notice the stuff in bold...I have NO IDEA where this gosh-danged thing is reading, but it doesn't seem like it's the app.config file in our class library...

thanks..

Doug

Hi

I am facing the same problem. I dont know where to set the custom configuration settings. I am pretty sure it will have to be somewhere in Report Server Config files, but where?

Regarding the stuff in bold you are seeing is coming from the base asp.net machine settings.
